SoCo Shopping

South Congress street is THE place to shop in Austin. It might be my favorite street of all time. Lined with cute boutiques, coffee shops, hotels, street vendors, food trucks, it’s own outdoor farmers & makers market & of course the famous “i love you so much…” mural. It has everything and is a great place to do some trend shopping when you are in the area. Here are a few of my favorite shops.

Maya is a super trendy boutique that won’t break the bank. Filled with the newest styles on the market. I purchased the black velvet embroidered dress pictured above and can’t wait to pair it with boots when the cooler weather hits Texas. It’s a must see shop!

Tesoro’s Trading Company is a great place for gift/souvenir shopping. Everyone wants a piece of the Southwest especially when it’s trending. I purchased the dia de los muertos  neckace pictured above. The necklace construction was cheap to say the least. I’m currently having my mother rework it with her amazing jewelry making skills. I’ll have to show a before and after soon!

Prototype Vintage Design is one of my favorite vintage shops. Everything is merchandised perfectly! They do a great job telling a story at every turn. I love visiting and taking inspiration.

Feathers is right next door and another great vintage shop for inspiration. I get lost in their colorful boho garments!  I need to ask about the artist behind their oversized handmade jewelry next time I visit.

Triple Z Threadz is a funky menswear oriented shop. They take secondhand button down shirts and embroider funny, quirky & sometimes inappropriate things onto them. It’s a great shop for the hard to buy person in your life. Who doesn’t need a painting with “Bitch Please” slapped on?

Blackmail is last but not least on my list. This shop is for the dark tourist. Filled with gothic inspired items it’s a great haunt. The atmosphere made me want to buy something but I couldn’t find anything. I wish they had more impulse items for sale.

SoCo has soooo much to offer that I will need to document more stores on my next visit. Till then you will have to shop it for yourself!!
