Circle of Care – Earth Day

This Earth Day, we slowed down and sat outside—bare feet in the dirt, sunshine on our shoulders, and the spring breeze whispering through the trees. We talked about the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and what each one truly means when we live it out with intention. Not just as rules, but as a relationship—with the earth, with each other, and with the future.

Hummingbird Feeder

We started a hummingbird feeder, mixing up sugar water and hanging it near the flowers. We watched the air, hoping for a flash of wings and a whir of magic.

Texas Terrarium

We built a terrarium together, layering moss, tiny branches, and a miniature dinosaur scene tucked deep inside. Then, to our delight, we found a black and white Texas ironclad beetle—its tiny body now part of the little ecosystem we created. The kids marveled at how something so small could be so perfectly made.

Each of these moments—talking, creating, observing—was our way of holding the Earth back.

We don’t need to do big things to make a difference. Sometimes it starts with watching a beetle crawl over moss. Sometimes it’s in a child learning that their choices matter. Earth Day is a reminder, but it can also be an invitation: to stay connected, to give care, to notice the wonder just outside our door.

So today, wild one—go outside.

Feel how Mother Earth holds you.

Then hold her back.

That’s the circle we want to teach.

That’s the world we want to grow.
