As the seasons change and the air cools, we’re reminded of the beauty of nature’s timing. This fall, something truly special happened that perfectly aligns with our ethos at Coast to Country—we found a Sulcata tortoise at the lake, just in time for the colder months.

This little guy was a true gift of serendipity. Sulcata tortoise, native to the deserts of Africa, are accustomed to warmer climates, and this one certainly wasn’t equipped to face a Texas winter. Without a proper habitat, survival through the cold months would have been near impossible. But as fate would have it, we discovered him just before the temperatures dipped. It’s as if the universe knew he needed a safe place to call home for the season.
It’s a reminder to us of the delicate balance between time, space, and care—something we also believe in when it comes to our slow fashion journey. Just like this tortoise, who found his way to us when he needed it most, we are taking things one step at a time with intention, patience, and a focus on the long-lasting impact of what we create.

As we welcome him into our lives and begin preparing for the colder months, we can’t help but reflect on how everything happens for a reason. Our new friend’s story is a beautiful reflection of the themes we hold dear—patience, resilience, and the understanding that the right things come at just the right time.

Stay tuned for more updates on our Sulcata tortoise’s journey and the inspiration he brings to our Coast to Country family. And as always, thank you for being part of our slow fashion movement, where every step is made with care.
